Christmas Card From the Grieving

At Written Hugs Designs, we create cards that are courageously vulnerable, deeply intentional, and uniquely powerful. We are not afraid to acknowledge how holidays make the weight of grief so much harder to bear. This card is a Christmas Card designed to be sent FROM The grieving family out to their support people who really showed up during their moments of grief. Those people that in one way or another communicated, “I see you. You matter. Your loss matters. Their memory will never be forgotten.”

 The front image is a mantle with stockings hung under the word ‘JOY’ with a single candle lit. There are 4 stockings hung although there are five places to hang a stocking, one is obviously missing. 

The inscription says:

“In our hearts,
we hold two truths in tension:
There are joy-filled memories
we hold onto dearly, and
there is a deep sorrowful ache
for what should have been.

In our effort to find
a piece of new normal,
we are so grateful that you have
shown up in ways that communicate:
We are seen, and we matter.
