Father Grieving Loss of Child : Father’s Day Card
Father Grieving Loss of Child : Father’s Day Card
This card was made for someone mourning the loss of a child on Father’s Day. This could be an adult child, young child, infant, still born, or miscarriage. As someone who has experienced the loss of several children through miscarriage, Father’s Day can make that loss harder to bear. If your loss is public knowledge, well-meaning people can say things that are incredibly hurtful or careless in an effort to “make it better”. Additionally, sharing space with people who know about your loss and say nothing to you can be equally as hurtful.
I hope that every mom grieving the loss of a child or children will feel more seen, more connected, and feel like there is permission to exist in her reality. When the societal pressure of what Father’s Day is “supposed” to look like doesn’t match your reality, it can feel like you have to pretend like everything is ok, even when you feel shattered inside.
The cover has a sunset background with a silhouette of a tree and tire swing and says, “Father’s Day is complicated...” The inside inscription says, “There is no describing the intense pain that comes with child loss. Nor how that pain intensifies while celebrating Father’s Day. Be gentle with yourself. You are so loved.”
